Harare and hunger (my) in Ethiopia Ethiopia Hello everyone! If you already have 'watched the first two photos of the new album will think: we were a curt and Strunz. In fact, you do 'right. Li 'was in Harare, a city' to the east, all of which, both Ethiopian and foreign, I had talked about due to a unique feature: you can 'give food to the hyenas! It insisted, you should absolutely go there, you can give to the hyenas also eat with your mouth! Of course, far be it from me to get there 'just to do' is bullshit, but 'and' I've had to stop them 'in the mandatory ride to Djibouti. I thought then that there was nothing interesting to see them 'and instead' by far the city 'more' beautiful among those I visited in Ethiopia (of course the churches of Lalibela and 'a different matter, but the town of Lalibela and' ugly).
E 'consists of small lanes and alleys with pastel-colored houses stand on which the bright colors of the veils of women and of course I am satisfied to take pictures. And then various markets, a large cattle market, a disproportionate number of mosques, even it seems to me inside the walls are more 'than eighty! Really a very pleasant place, you can feel a certain magic, I was fascinated and Rimbaud lived there 'for many years. And people are very nice, disputes after photos when I asked for money and excuses were the most 'fun for the whole trip. That then I better not give 'cause I knew if I gave them one had to give them to everyone. In fact, just sold my heart and I gave the equivalent of half a euro to a girl (but I must admit that in addition to the heart was affected by this decision because a potato was not bad) and 'burst a casino, you are rematerialized from nothing all that I had photographed and now wanted money. And the girl 'was completely surrounded by photographers who wanted their share. But there was no aggression 'in this, it was clearly a comic scene.
On the other hand the hyenas and even that 'was more' interesting than expected, ok, 'give him to eat with his mouth and' American, but 'seeing them' up close and 'exciting. They are a type of hyena and especially great, as indeed are dogs, they have many characteristics that make them look like the cats, the first coat.
The reason why these hyenas around Harare have made friends with men and 'a mystery and there are many legends about it. In fact, all the hyenas of the world stay away from men, and sometimes attack it. For over a century in Harare and 'twinning did this, not only obviously in place to give to eat to make them see for tourists, which would also make sense, but for the whole city', as the descending darkness, the hyenas come to visit, nibbling here and there 'where it happens and never attack people. Among other things I have seen that attack even cats, a cat around while he had approached gave him to eat, a little 'and its ready to run, but the hyenas have remained completely indifferent. It just biting each other to catch the pieces of meat. And the night then ... howling and wailing everywhere ... uuuuu ... uuuu ... Thrilling ... open your eyes / Stay awake / not sleeping / night.
The road from Harare and Addis Ababa 'paved and generally in good condition (yes, they do the things the Italians!) But' I saw a disproportionate number of accidents which occurred more than a few hours earlier. As I had already 'said I did not understand why' s so many accidents in Africa because they do not drive at all bad, are rarely seen follies. On that road accidents of trucks, trucks, minibuses and there was also a poor man who had been hit and was lying dead on the floor with his head broken. Among other things, had not even put a towel on him, no one was next and all the cars slowed down and right to dodge any further. Oooh has raised just a few of wonder in our minibus. Djibouti
And you say? How '? How '? Wait, here begins the sad part. You should know that and 'a few days I'm doing pretty hungry, and you will say and here you see the true traveler, the man who sacrificed himself just to suck the very essence of the place where he is, who wants to be on par with its inhabitants in all and for all, 'but of course not' was intentional, just since I arrived in Ethiopia goes all wrong and I among other things, the credit card I do not hunt more 'money.
Without them to you long to remind you that 'in the previous post I complained that I could not take money and then not been able to take others. With the little money I get to Djibouti. I had put aside money for the visa to make a city 'near Harare called Dire Dawa and the bus to take them' to Djibouti city. From Harare to Dire Dawa there 's only an hour or so of road, so' Friday 'last year I started early in the morning hoping to get a visa to fly to fly and maybe catch a bus in the day to Djibouti. But bad luck does not forgive, and so 'and that time travel is' turned into an odyssey of 6 hours' cause the night before the storm had brought down a road and you could not pass. So 'I got the visa office was already' closed and then had to wait until the next morning. I see how much money I have, except for those seen and coaches: 70 birr, slightly more 'of € 4 (not 70 beers, 70 birr, the Ethiopian currency. A € is + or - to 15 birr, and a beer, strangely, costs less than 10 birr). And in these situations, you realize what Ethiopia is affordable, I took a room in a nice dump for 3 € and then I bought a loaf of bread and water. The loaf I and 'cost half birr, that' one-thirtieth of €! And so 'I spent the day.
The next morning I return to that ' ufficio.
I had tried in South Africa and then I gave up. Now could be the salvation and so 'I asked for help from a guy who always hangs around the hotel itself as a guide. We shot half the city 'but nothing, no one wanted to Polish Zloty. Among other things, many believed it was a scam 'cause in Poland use the euro! Ok, '. (Unless, Daniel, Mark and Phil, can you spend 'with you at the Green Apple, the most' soon!
;-) I went back to the hotel and I tried one small change. In the midst of various coins I found mezz'Africa € 3. And so 'again to shoot far and wide in the sun to try to change them, but coins and banknotes since no one wanted them.
E siamo arrivati a oggi, martedi'. Piu 'that hunger some dizziness began to be felt so' I started looking for a restaurant that accept Visa. I shot a long time but nothing and just when I was about to give up in a place called Pizza Pizza they told me it was OK. And thank goodness. So 'I ate. At the time I chased the paper to pay and I looked like I was an alien. They've also taken in hand, girandosela between his fingers and, looking at her with eyes mixed with wonder and apprehension, wondering perhaps, and this thing will be 'why? It 's beautiful but'. But it will not be 'evil mica that object which is rumored, that you crawl into a car and pay for and' done? Sara 'what? They're not just there, I had to pay in contanti.
dovevano definitely give you something money more so 'that the next morning I had to take a taxi to the airport, and how the hell was I doing? (Yes, yesterday I made a ticket, you go back tomorrow!)
They mumbled a little 'that was illegal, until' luckily one said, but 'at least you know ... meant that they wanted something for them, the shit, and I told him 'Obviously, you do' something as a tip, shit that you are not another (the latter part of the sentence I have not spoken but I submit with daughters look directly into the brain, telepathy).
And so 'and is' solved everything. I thank especially the girl, Rachel, also gave me a mobile number but now there is no 'more' time ... the muzungo goes away, it's back to Europe to seek work. In that regard, I have a very Buddhist attitude: If I find him, thank goodness. If you do not find it ... thank goodness!
Well, the journey ends here and also the blog, I'll post 'one last post after returning with the final map, and if something special happens, one last story.
thank all those who have followed me, all who have contributed with comments, the continent of Africa that enveloped me so warmly, and above all its inhabitants, the Africans, who, with a few insignificant exceptions, I have always been treated as a brother and made to feel at home.
